Dhaka: Good news mixed with disappointment! Young opener Abdullah Fazal scored a solid maiden Test half-century on his debut against Bangladesh before being dismissed for 60 runs.
The Karachi batsman showed excellent temperament and technique during his 120-ball stay at the crease in the first innings of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st Test.
Abdullah Fazal’s Debut Knock
- Score: 60 runs
- Balls Faced: 120
- Fours: 7
- Six: 1
- Strike Rate: 50.0
Abdullah Fazal was dismissed in the 63.4 over when he stepped down the track against Mehidy Hasan Miraz and chipped the ball straight into the hands of Taijul Islam at mid-on. At the time of his dismissal, Pakistan were 230 for 5.
Performance Analysis
Fazal formed a crucial opening partnership with Azan Awais (who scored a century). He looked very composed against both pace and spin and played with a lot of patience — exactly what was needed on this pitch. His fifty is a big confidence booster on debut, even though he couldn’t convert it into a big hundred.
Our KPK Verdict
A very promising start to Test career for Abdullah Fazal. Scoring 60 runs on debut in overseas conditions shows he has the temperament to succeed in the longest format. He batted for more than two hours and helped stabilize the Pakistan innings after early pressure.
This is just the beginning for the 23-year-old. With Azan Awais already scoring a century, Pakistan’s new opening pair is giving fans plenty of hope.
